Steinar Jakobsen
Short bio
Steinar Jakobsen (b. 1967, Oslo) is recognized as one of Norway’s most distinctive painters. He has held solo exhibitions at, among others, the Henie Onstad Art Center (Høvikodden), Bomuldsfabriken Kunsthall (Arendal), Margaret Thatcher Projects (New York), and Galleri K (Oslo). His work has also been featured in exhibitions at the Norwegian National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design (Oslo), the Astrup Fearnley Museum (Oslo), the Stenersen Museum (Oslo), Bergen Kunstforening, Trondheim Kunstforening, and Galleri F 15 (Moss). Jakobsen’s works are represented in major public and private collections, among them the Norwegian National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design with several works, the Astrup Fearnley Museum, Storebrand, Nordea, Hydro, Gjensidige, Christen Sveaas’ Art Foundation, the Public Art Agency Sweden, and Harvard Business School in Boston. He collaborated with the architecture group Snøhetta for a large-scale public artwork for Lysaker Station.
