Silje Linge Haaland receives the Lorck Schive Art Prize 2025
We are pleased to share that Silje Linge Haaland has been awarded the Lorck Schive Art Prize 2025.
The jury gives the following reasoning for awarding the prize to Linge Haaland:
"The jury of the Lorck Schive Art Prize 2025 has decided to award the prize to Silje Linge Haaland. The jury appreciated the role that text and linguistic games play in her artistic work, serving as material for video works, poetry books and objects. Silje Linge Haaland's work truly belongs to our times, combining personal observations with reflections on the geopolitical and technological challenges of the present day. The jury appreciates the artist's technical sophistication and the material form of her research, on social relations, language, nature and (dis)information, takes. Silje Linge Haaland's art embodies the fragmentary nature of our vision and perception, translating it into hypnotising form and narrative. Poetry, sculpture and film constitute a coherent artistic statement, always referring to language and illustrating the complex nature of our understanding of the world. As such, it allows us to look deeper into the future, even if it might be petrified with toxic glue, as the plants used in Haaland's installation."
The Lorck Schive Art Prize is Norway's largest art prize. The purpose of the award is to create debate and interest in contemporary art by honoring outstanding artists. The exhibition and award ceremony are held at Trondheim kunstmuseum every other year. The Lorck Schive Art Prize is a collaboration between Christian Lorck Schive and Spouse Trust and Trondheim kunstmuseum.
